Day 1: Arrive Cape Town int. Airport.

Day 1 - 7 in Cape Town.

Check in at  ***Hotel.

On arrival at the hotel, the nurse will welcome you. A light meal will be served. We will meet at 17.45 for a walk-through of the itinerary of the tour. At 19.00 a  welcome dinner will be served.

This week can be spent by exploring Cape Town and surrounds on your own or joining additional day trips with Cape Options. For more information regarding these you may refer to the bottom of this page.

 

Day 8: Departure from Cape Town by coach at 8h30. Avalong Springs.

Please note, that while every care will  be taken for suitable meals to be prepared and served at the prescribed times, should circumstances beyond our control change this,  we will ensure, that the best  possible alternatives will be arranged.

We drive through the magnificent Hex River Valley, where millions of vines are responsible for the ever changing colour. Weather permitting, lunch will be at el Fresco under the trees at Avalon Springs, where we have time for bathing in the mineral spa. Depart to Oudtshoorn, once the ostrich capital of the world, where Grant will introduce us to the diversity of the Little Karoo and his meerkat project. A warm welcome awaits us at De Zeekoe, a working ostrich/Guest Farm, where the tranquility of the surroundings together with the peacefulness of the river, create an ambiance of comfort. Dinner is served in the Lapa under the African sky.  

 

Day 9: Ostrich tour  and Cango Caves.

(NB: Dinner is not included)

Optional visit to the meerkats (not included in tourprice). The morning tour allow us to sit outside the burrow system, and be anything from one meter to15 meters from the wild meerkats, depending on how they decide to move around. After breakfast, we have the opportunity for a "behind the scenes" tour at the farm, before we depart for a guided tour of the Cango Caves, acknowledged to be one of the most beautiful calcite caves in the world. Lighted by electricity, fantastic formations of innumerable stalagmites and stalactites are revealed in sparkling brilliance. After lunch we have some time to browse for curios, before departing to Plettenberg Bay, where we will spend the next two nights. Free time to explore the beach and village.

 

Day 10: Tsitsikamma Forest, Storms River and diner cruise.

Depart to Tsitsikamma National Park, where high mountains, deep gorges and rugged coastline are covered by tall indigenous forest and vast, unspoilt stands of the Cape’s unique Fynbos. A forest walk takes us into the beautiful forest, which is home to ancient trees. This paradise of forest, fynbos and sea, sustains an abundance of birds, antelopes, bushpigs, honey badgers and the occasional leopard. Weather permitting, the “Spirit of Tsitsikamma” will take us on a 30 min. cruise up the gorge followed by a picnic lunch. After lunch return to hotel Plettenberg hotel. By coach to Knysna waterfront. Weather permitting – we cruise in style and luxury into the heads on a sunset dinner cruise on the only paddle driven vessel in South Africa.

 

Day 11: WildernessNational Park.

(NB: Lunch is not included)

Free time until 13.45. Depart to Knysna station. To George on board the The Outiniqua ChooTjoe, a steam hauled train. When this line was built, it was regarded as the most expensive piece of clickety clack in  the world. Today it is billed as one of the most beautiful railway sceneries. Our coach & luggage meets the train in George. By coach to Kwelanga Country Retreat, where the natural rustic setting offers total peace and tranquillity and the restaurant is the only one in George with a view of the sea.

             

Day 12: Garden Route Game Lodge

Depart to Garden Route Lodge, where we have our lunch. This private game reserve is home to an abundance of animal and bird life including the BIG 5. The use of natural materials such a thatch, stone and timber, blend in with the African style décor of the accommodation, to create an unforgettable impression. Enjoy a Candle lit Boma dinner in a relaxed atmosphere around an open blazing fire. Morning and evening drives are led by experienced game guides, who share their knowledge of big game as well as the many Antelope species, birdlife and local African folklore.

 

Day 13: Hermanus and Cape Town.

After an early morning game drive, we start our journey back to Cape Town. Lunch in the picturesque town of Hermanus. Celebrated for land-based whale watching and it’s coastal beauty. We follow the coastal road back to Cape Town and should arrive back in the city late afternoon.

Historical Cape Town (from 9.30 - aprox.16.30).

Price p. p ZAR 500.

Weather permitting we start the city tour by visiting Table Mountain where the 360 degree view will take your breath away. From here to the Castle of Good Hope, a fortress dating back to 1600’s. No visit to Cape Town will be complete without a stroll through the Company Gardens where many historical buildings are set along an oak avenue & tame squirrels scurry between your feet. Picnic lunch in the Gardens while watching Cape Townians do what they do best – relax! A stroll down St Georges Mall will take us to Green Market Square - a Pan African flea market for souvenirs & the Aquarium will provide a tranquil end to our day.

 

 

 

The Wine Country (from 9.00 - 18.00)

The coach departs Cape Town at 9.00 for Zevenwacht Estate where we will be introduced to the art of wine making and get to taste some of their finest cheese and wine. Our tour continues to Spier Estate where we meet tame cheetah which are part of the Cheetah Outreach program and then on to Stellenbosch the second oldest town in the country. Some free time here as there are many historical buildings to be admired. Lunch at the Inn "Der alte oude" dating to 1700. The afternoon will be spent in the Franschoek area where we will enjoy more wine tasting and exploring this quaint "French" village.

 

 

 

Cape Peninsula (from 9.30 – 18.00)

Price: ZAR 700 per person all included.

Depart Cape Town at 9.30 along the False Bay coast to Simonstown . After a stroll through this "English Village" we visit the world renown Boulders beach, home to one of the few land-based penguin colonies in the world. For the brave - a swim in the clear water, so remember bathing suit and suncreme. After our picnic lunch we continue on our journey to Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve & Cape Point lighthouse on the most SW point of Africa "where two oceans meet" Our homeward journey takes us around Chapmans Peak, one of the most beautiful drives in the world to Hout Bay where we will stop off for coffee in the waterfront. The white beaches and sparkling water of Clifton & Camps Bay culminate a wonderful day as we drive back to Cape Town

                     

 

 

Dinner at the revolving Restaurant on the top of Hotel Ritz.

Price: ZAR 350 per person.

depart 18.30 to Hotel Ritz. A 360 degree view of the sunset over the city and sea from on high while enjoying a wonderful 3 course dinner with piano backgound music.
