Kruger National Park:
Extensive Savanna... herds of grazing impalas ... Zebras and
gnus... Elephants trumpeting while enjoying a mud bath...
Silhouttes of acacia trees against the the
sunset... dinner around a campfire under shining stars, and
the roar of lions, ensure that memories of your Safari, remain
deeply rooted in your mind for the rest of your life...
Kruger National Park is with good reason world famous. The 20.000 square
km area, is approximately 200 km northeast of Johannesburg. With vegetation
which varies from wilderness to savanna, the Park offers the worlds'
largest variety of animals with the highest concentration in the southern part of the park
and your patience will be rewarded, when you come across one of the "Big
Five": lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant and buffalo.
The best time of the year for safari-driving is July - September. The
grass has become dry, and the animals are searching for the remaining few water
holes after the winter-drought, which is characteristic of Africa.
The days are sunny, dry and pleasant, the nights are clear and cold. The
best time for
Safari is early morning and late afternoon, as this is when the animlas are
at their most active.
